Did you know that ACC rewards the self-employed and small businesses for putting in place health and safety systems that meet an ACC audit standard?
With the new Health and Safety Act in place since 1 April, you may already have a system that complies with the Audit Standard and be eligible for a 10 percent discount on your ACC work levy.
To be eligible your total annual payroll must be $578,000 or less, OR you employ no more than 10 full-time equivalent employees.
To meet the Workplace Safety Discount Audit Standard you or an employee must also have completed a training course and be able to demonstrate experience in the following five key elements:-
- Commitment to health and safety management practices.
- Hazard identification and management.
- Incident and accident investigation.
- Emergency management procedures.
- Employee training in health and safety matters.
The Workplace Safety Discount status runs for three years when you need to re-apply under the same process.
